Consuelo P. Gaona (Chelo) entered into eternal rest on November 3, 2023 at the age of 88. She was born on August 16, 1935 to Carolina and Bartolo Perez in N.L. Mexico. Consuelo was devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Commadre to her sister in-laws and Tia.
Consuelo married Guillermo in 1958. They lived in Anahuac until they moved to San Antonio in 1965. She worked as a nurse aide for over 30 years. She loved her family and children deeply. Consuelo enjoyed sewing her clothes and soon sewed for others and her children. She loved plants and flowers. She especially loved the Pink Ladies, Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush wild flowers that grow in her large yard every Spring. Consuelo was a simple woman of deep faith. When she and Guillermo moved to the outer limits of San Antonio, they would still make the 40 minute drive to St. Jude's every Sunday for Mass. They both were deeply involved in the Holy Name Society Association. They would make a large pot of Menudo for the breakfast and donate sodas and their time to serve the congregation. Consuelo baked a large upside down cake that would be cut into pieces to sell and most of it would be gone by the time the next Mass started.
Consuelo will be reunited in heaven with her parents, sisters and eighteen year old brother. She has one surviving brother Antonio Perez. Consuelo's memory will forever live in her husband of 65 years Guillermo R. Gaona; children Rosa Solar (Armando), John Gaona, and Daniel Gaona (Sandra); Grandchildren Daniel David Gaona (Michelle), Shelby Williams (Luke), Joel Solar, Amanda Gaona (J.R.) Jacob (Johnni) and Matthew Gaona. Five Great Grandchildren Rebeccah, Ainslie, Kyler, Riley and Jonah and numerous extended nieces and nephews.
