Born December 10, 1964 to Robert and Frances Davis Allen in Pineville, Louisiana, he accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and what many would agree on, always marched to the beat of his own drum. It was rare he conformed to the popular norm even at a young age and his experiences from youth would build him into a tower of resiliency. Craig was a man of integrity and his moral compass always pointed due North. With a constant thirst for knowledge and self-improvement, college was the goal and the military was the avenue that would take him there. In 1989 Craig enlisted in the United States Army and retired as Sergeant Major after 29 years. He was a decorated veteran which included The Order of Military Medical Merit and the first ever from the Veterinary Command to be inducted into the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club in 1999. After his military retirement in 2018, Craig would go on to work for USAA and would receive his master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2019.
Craig was a man of few words, but when he did speak it normally included one of three topics: family, golf, or the Children’s Bereavement Center. In the most unlikely of places, Craig met his wife, Gretchen Eve Davis while on an 18-month deployment to Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Enduring Freedom. He accepted a care package she sent from Austin, Texas and they would end up marrying two years later. They were married 13 years and shared a life together with their eight-year-old son, Gabriel Zeno Davis. Most weekends the family spent on the golf course and when Craig wasn’t on the course, he was watching or reading about golf. Craig was also an enthusiastic Board Member of the Children's Bereavement Center where he led the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee to assure access to services for the community’s most vulnerable children.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Gretchen Eve Davis, one son Gabriel Zeno Davis both of San Antonio Texas, two sisters Ruby J. Turner (Douglas) of Tacoma, Washington and Natalie A. Allen of Alexandria, Louisiana as well as his God Mother, Lucinda Coleman of Alexandria, Louisiana.
