

Cristina was born August 7, 1934 in Falfurrias, Texas to Tomas and Guadalupe Cuevas. She was one of eight children and is survived by her sister, Lucia Cuevas, age 90.
After graduating from high school, Cristina worked for the Falfurrias Dairy Creamery. She then moved to Corpus Christi to study accounting at Del Mar College. While working at Ford Automobile as a bookkeeper, she became devoted to the Church. Cristina began attending church at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and always shared her gratitude to Fr. Elsing who helped her while she lived in Corpus. Cristina became President of the Marian Solidarity at St. Joseph’s, which was devoted to Mother Mary and serving the church.
While living in Corpus Christi she met the love of her life, Hormandin Villarreal, whom she married in 1962. Together they raised their family in a devout Catholic home and attended weekly Adoration Chapel for almost 40 years. After being a homemaker for 13 years, she returned to the workplace with the Pasadena Independent School District as a front office secretary in the Special Education program at Park View Intermediate. Cristina retired after 25 years of service with Pasadena ISD as the secretary to the Associate Superintendent of Special Education. She was proud of her five Aggie children and 16 grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. Cristina loved to garden and grow flowers. She shared her love of sewing and crocheting with her children and grandchildren and loved a good book. Cristina was a devoted wife and partner to her husband. They were always together sharing their lives as one.
Cristina is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Hormandin B. Villarreal; her parents; brothers Roman, Nieves, and Francisco and sisters Josefina Cuevas, Antonia Pulido, Conce Guerra and son-in-law, Glenn A. McLaren. Cristina is survived by son, David Villarreal and Jean Takac; son, Noel Villarreal and wife, Rosa; daughter, Irene McLaren Norton and husband, Stuart; daughter, Norma Gil and husband, Juan; son, Omar Villarreal and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Robin Villarreal, Michael Villarreal, Joshua Villarreal, Katie Villarreal, Colin McLaren, Kendall McLaren, Hannah Villarreal, Luke Villarreal, Juan Gil III and his wife Jacky and daughter Valeria, Quinn McLaren, Faith Villarreal, Hope Villarreal, Carly McLaren, Sophia Villarreal, Luke Gil, Lazarus Gil; sister, Lucia Cuevas as well as many nieces and nephews who will sadly miss her.
The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wed, Nov 15, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary North located at 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX.
