

Cynthia was born in Mitchell, S. Dakota to Albert and Alice (Melrose) Gratke, and grew up with her two sisters, Barbara and Carol.
In high school she played saxophone and cello and sang in the chorus.
As a recruiter in the Women’s Air Corps, she met her lifelong husband. Lt. Bob Thompson, at a joint Army-Air Force dance, and they were married in April, 1952. They had four children while traveling with his Army career.
At each station Cynthia delighted community and church members with her musical and artistic talents, singing and soloing in choirs, drawing, painting and writing. After Bob’s retirement to San Antonio in 1968, she became a legal secretary and editor of the San Antonio computer club magazine PC Alamode; as well as the Mens’ Garden Club newsletter, The Hortibull.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband Bob and survived by her 4 children, Judy, Robert, Stephanie and Stan; 3 grandchildren, Darrell Heath, Jamie Karlinchak, and Tracey Berry

Funeral arrangements will be made at a future date, to be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
