I was among the initial airmen assigned to the Green Dog Program at Lackland in 1982. Doc Craig would walk around and impart amazing information and knowledge about dogs that I still use today in my dog training business. I am grateful I was able be around him.

My respects for his family. I was a training manager for the Air Force and knew "Doc" during his time at Lackland AFB. He was a pleasant person to work with, very knowledegeable and very professionable, and always with a sense of humor. Sorry I wsn't able to make the services for him. He was one of the "good guys".

I am so sorry to hear about Dan's death. We knew each other for about 40 yrs. Unfortunately I was in Europe until late on 30 May so was unable to attend the services. The main characteristic I always remember about Dan was his enthusiasm for his work and for life in general. I never remember him down even though I am sure there were times. Since we are Methodist we always appreciated Dan's support of the Methodist Home and we will definitely send them a donation in his name. God bless, Tom & Pat Butler

Thank you for the many contributions you and Dan have made to Methodist Children's Home through the years. Our children and staff are blessed by your faithful support. When I attended my first MCH Homecoming in 2002, Dan was one of the first alums to welcome me to the family. I always appreciated his sense of humor and storytelling. I looked forward to seeing Dan at Homecoming because I knew I would hear a great story about his talents on the senior baseball circuit or about your beautiful artwork. He was proud of you! I pray for God's peace and strength during these difficult days.

Even though it has been many years since we talked, it was just a few days ago that I was telling someone about how Dr. Craig influenced and shaped my life and the enduring lessons he taught me. I met Dr. Craig at Lackland AFB where I was an unwanted, inexperienced Sailor assigned as the first female supervisor for Dog Training Section. His kindness and wisdom were my touchstone throughout a very difficult time both professionally and personally. At DTS we did it "Dr. Craig's way" for three years, during the course of which we tripled production, reduced elimination rates and set certification rates that have yet to be equaled. His wisdom and meticulous approach to dog training stayed with me through many other duty assignments as both a senior enlisted person and as a commissioned officer and, on retirement, guided my work to put the first Infantry-based detector dogs in Iraq. Doc, you were right. About everything, even the buzzards. God bless and look over your loved ones and I look forward to seeing you again some day. The prayers of the Methodist Children's Home family are with you. Dr. Craig was a faithful friend to our ministry and a wonderful example to others of how lives are changed through God's amazing work at the Home. He will be missed. I am grateful for his service over the years to the Home and our nation.

Although I had not seen Dan since I left the Childrens Home in Waco some 53 years ago I feel like I have lost a dear brother. Through e-mails the past few years he included me in his life and made me feel close to him and his dear wife Edith. I will miss surely miss communicating with Dan. My wife Ellen who talked to Dan a few times by phone an I stand by Edith and family in their loss of this good man.

Will always remember Dan and the good times we had growing up at the Methodist Home.Everyone loved Dan & Edith. We will miss him.

Mrs. Edith Craig, I worked with your husband for over 10 years while assigned at Lackland AFB MWD Branch. I grew to respect him very much. My prayers go out to you and your family at this time of great sorrow. His work will live on. He will be greatly missed by many. K-9 Folks: This is probably not a surprise to Dr Craig but I still have a hard time explaining Principles of Conditioning to anyone :

Dr. Craig gave a lot of credibility to the Military Working Dog program. I learned a lot from him and appreciate his effort to professionalize the working dog industry. Over the years, I had several opportunities to talk with "Doc" on a personal basis, which I enjoyed. He made a huge impression on me, and I will miss him.

Ralph and I are so sorry for the loss of Dan. He was such a wonderful person, and meant so much to all of us. We will miss him. And the Methodist Home alumni will miss him also. He was always such a big supporter of the home.
