

Dan Proctor McLendon Jr., 87, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on April 1, 2026 in San Antonio. Dan was born on September 15, 1938, in Odessa, Texas to Dan Proctor McLendon and Mary Louise Scarborough.
He attended elementary school in Kenedy, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi, and junior and senior high schools in Odessa, where he graduated from Odessa High School in 1956. He received a BA degree from Baylor University, an MA degree from Texas A&I University, and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.
He began his teaching career in Corpus Christi where he also held several administrative positions. He served as Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for the Richardson ISD, Superintendent of Schools for the West Orange-Cove CISD and the Round Rock ISD, and President of Dan McLendon and Associates, an educational consulting firm.
Dan is survived by his wife Connie Jean McLendon of San Antonio, sons Michael Kevin McLendon and David Brian McLendon, stepchildren Leslie Dawn Olson of San Antonio, Noel DeShane of Chantilly VA, and Michelle Baumann of Nordheim TX, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Dan loved attending University of Texas football games with family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 11 St Lukes Ln, Alamo Heights, TX 78209. Inurnment will be at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Luke's Episcopal Church School Endowment Fund or to one's favorite charity.
Dale Linebarger, lifelong family friend, will be the special speaker at Dan’s memorial service.
