

Daniel G. Alonzo of San Antonio, Texas, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born January 6, 1931, Daniel was the son of Manuel and Petra Alonzo. He married his high school sweetheart, Isabelle (Peche) Alonzo, on August 20, 1955. In 1949 Daniel graduated from Fox Tech Graduate School. Daniel was a hardworking man and, joined the United States Navy shortly after graduation. Daniel proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Daniel wanted to serve his local community and began a law enforcement career spanning over 45 years. Daniel established his law enforcement career with the Bexar County Sheriff’s department, where he obtained the rank of Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigation Division. Furthering his career in federal law enforcement, Daniel began working as a Deputy United States Marshall, United States Customs and Border Patrol Agent. He then concluded his career with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. Daniel was a very inspirational person to so many people and was always willing to help anyone. A very religious man, Daniel dedicated his life to the Lord by devoting his service to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was also a pillar of his community, promoting charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism as a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Petra Alonzo; wife, Isabelle Alonzo; brother, Manuel Alonzo Jr.; sisters, Della Alonzo, Velma Frayer, and Beatrice Cantu; and infant son David Alonzo. He is survived by his 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Evelyn McRae and Mary Peche; and his sons, Gary (Alma) Alonzo, David (Janie) Alonzo, and Daniel (Robyn) Alonzo.
Service for Daniel will be Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A viewing will be held at 10 am, followed by a Rosary at 11:00 am. Mass of the Resurrection to conclude services. A funeral procession will proceed to Ft. Sam Houston for burial at 1:30 pm.
