In his thirty two years as a trial attorney, Dan proved himself a champion of the worthy cause by defending those who needed it most. Often questioning what he was told and usually fighting for the underdog,
Dan's incendiary spirit and creativity were tempered by his compassion and sense of humor.
He studied Film at The University of Texas at Austin where his love of the arts and humanity flourished. During this time, Dan studied and mastered Tae Kwon Do earning his third degree black belt.
Dan received his Juris Doctor from St. Mary's School of Law in 1984 and went on to become a board certified attorney in civil trial law.
He brought light and laughter to many, but those that knew him best will remember him as a caring father and husband who was looking forward to becoming a grandfather for the first time this fall.
Dan taught his children to stand up for what is right and the importance of forgiveness, but most importantly the beauty of unconditional love and compassion for those less fortunate.
He was extremely proud of his Father's accomplishments as a concert violinist and passed this appreciation onto his family through his love of classical music and opera.
Dan will be dearly missed, but we are comforted in knowing that in some corner of heaven, he and Jerry Garcia are sharing a laugh in deep conversation about beautiful music.
Dan is survived by his wife Christine Bass, son Kevin Daniel Bass, daughter Jessica Bass Bolander, son-in-law Tyler Bolander, step son Travis Trevino, mother Mary Bass, sister Julia Averritt, first wife Sandy G. Bass. The family would also like to thank his life-long best friend and partner in crime, Tom Cloudt.
