My Dad was one of the kindest people I have ever met.  He always had time for a phone call from his daughters, he always had positive and comforting advice to give.  In the face of any situation, he was able to see the good.  He loved his family dearly and cared deeply about the people he worked with.  I am truly grateful that he was my Dad.

I was forwarded your e-mail on Dan's death.  Please accept my sincere sympathies for your loss, and my prayers go out to you and Dan's  daughters.

I had the very distinct privilege of spending 1985-88 as Dan's deputy in the Office of the Controller at CIA.  I can honestly say that I have never learned as much from one person as I did from Dan during that time.  His knowledge, professionalism, commitment to CIA, and unfailing care for others set an example for all of us who worked for or around him.  He will be missed as a true one-of-a-kind.
