

Daniel was born on October 29, 1935, to Ardis Margaret Malarkey and Frederick Somerfield Mason, Jr., in Kingman Arizona.
He graduated from West Phoenix High School in 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended The University of Arizona, in Tucson, Arizona, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. In 1961 Daniel graduated from The University of Arizona with a B.S. in Business Administration and with a major in Production Management. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air force and served his country.
Dan lived and worked in Arizona and California through the years but ultimately decided to retire in South Texas. Dan never lost his love of Arizona and would tell many stories of his time living there. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Master Mason. He made many long lasting friendships through the lodge, his fraternal brothers.
Dan was a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed music and had learned to play the piano and guitar. Dan had his pilot’s license and loved to fly. He was quite thrilled when his plane was out in the museum after his flying days were retired. Dan loved to fish and hunt. He was a good honest, intelligent man and a friend to many. He will certainly be missed by his friends & family.
Dan is survived by family- Raine and Natalie Hobbs and their children Hunter & London
A graveside service with United States Air Force Honors will be celebrated Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM (Shelter #4) at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd San Antonio, Texas 78209.
