Daniel Baldomero Ortiz

And the Dear Lord said, "Daniel, it's time to go home." Our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend left this earth on December 3, 2007 and returned to his Heavenly Father. Born on March 13, 1979, Danny B. was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.

For almost 20 months, Danny B. fought courageously and valiantly as he underwent numerous surgeries and chemotherapy treatments. Danny B., a 1997 graduate of Taft High School, was an avid tennis and golf player. He attended NW Vista College and UTSA, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Rebecca Ortiz, who persevered each and every day in support of their son's fight against Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. He also is survived by his sisters, Sonya Ortiz and Marisa Ortiz Vasquez and husband Eric, who is serving in Iraq, two nieces Alayna and Nadia Vasquez, maternal grandparents Baldomero and Maria de Jesus Torres, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, grand-cousins and his very close friends who were there at his calling.

Danny B. fought to the very last minute. Like many individuals battling blood cancers, Danny B. showed us the inspiration of strength and courage in his fight for the will to live.

He was truly a hero and will forever live on in our hearts. We would like to thank those who kept Danny B. in their thoughts and in their prayers.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 6th from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Porter Loring.
