

Daniel L. Peaslee, 67, son of the late Mary Callan Hurlburt and stepfather Don Hurlburt, of Greene, NY, and his father Richard Peaslee, of San Antonio, TX, was overcome by ALS disease on August 14, 2017, at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on January 15, 1950 in Binghamton, NY.
Dan is survived by his wife, Karen A. Winfield Peaslee of 38 years; his daughter Jennifer Peaslee Eschrich and husband James, grandchildren James Jr. and Jatelin; daughter Nicole Peaslee Greer and husband Trinity, grandchildren Jeryd and Rhiannon; son Michael Peaslee and wife Lorena, and grandchildren Veronica, Adriana, and Theresa; and heart-adopted son Kevin (Danielle) Northup and family. He is also survived by brother Richard (Ruth) Peaslee, sisters Diane (Robert) Heath, and Elizabeth (Richard) Lyon, late stepbrother Donald Hurlburt Jr., late stepbrother Lawrence (Diana) Hurlburt, late stepbrother Douglas Hurlburt, and stepsister Beverly (Joe) Kennedy, and many loving nieces and nephews. Dan expressed his deep gratitude to all who supported him during his illness and especially his devoted caregiver and friend, Marta Zuniga.
Dan attended Chenango Forks High School in Chenango Forks, NY, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1968. He is a Vietnam Veteran serving on the U.S.S. Saratoga and the U.S.S. Forrestal. He moved to San Antonio, TX, after retiring from Southworth-Milton (Syracuse Supply) in 2005 in Binghamton, NY, as a 41-year member of the International Brother or Operating Engineers. Dan was a lifelong car enthusiast and sportsman. He was invested in his community and some knew him as Leo Cruizer, the Bexar County Cellular on Patrol mascot.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
Military honors will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 2:45 P.M.
