Born on September 11, 1943, David was the son of Orice Eugene “Bud” Brouillette and Frieda Ruth Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Christian Brouillette; cousin, Johnny Hallberg; numerous aunts and uncles; nephew, Joseph Eric Lopez; brothers-in-law, John Thomas Scribner and John Cunningham; and sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Scribner.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Mary Scribner Brouillette; his sister and best friend, Julie Ann Parlier and her husband Terry Parlier; cousins Fred Harris, William Hallberg and John Brouillette; his children, Anthony Brouillette and Steffanie Brouillette; sisters-in-law Maggie Hartman and Lilia Cunningham; brothers-in-law Gordon Hartman and Jimmy Crawford; nieces Morgan Hartman and Tara Terpening Diffie; great-niece Reaux Terpening; nephews Jeremy Scribner, Brock Terpening, and Ty Terpening; and many more beloved extended family members and friends.
David graduated from Galesburg High School in 1961, studied Speech and Drama at Illinois State University, and later graduated from Ray Vogue College of Design in Chicago, Illinois. His professional life was as vibrant as his personality. From working in the family’s Brouillette’s Decorative Studio and his uncle’s linoleum store in Wyoming to owning New Dimensions Interior Design, David’s career spanned decades in home design, sales, and marketing. He held leadership positions with companies such as Gemcraft Homes, MasterMark Homes, Weekley Homes, Clay Jarvis Custom Homes, and Ryland Homes, where he ultimately served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing before retiring.
A man of many passions, David loved poetry—both reading and writing—and had a lifelong appreciation for theater, performing in high school productions and with community groups like Prairie Players and local theater companies in Wyoming. He shared a love of antique cars with his father, enjoyed both coastal and lake fishing, and collected Bossons Chalkware. Travel was a joy for David and Mary, from their honeymoon in Hawaii to adventures throughout the Caribbean, Europe, and their beloved Mediterranean destinations of Spain, Greece, and Italy.
David will be remembered most for his deep faith and love of the Lord. His neighbor and dear friends, Nate De Koning and his wife, Amanda helped him and his wife Mary strengthen their faith and introduced them to Crossway Bible Church. Later he and his wife were baptized by Pastor Josh DeKoning who is Nate's brother. He became great friends and loved Pastor Josh and his wife, Cara, as much as he loved Nate and Amanda DeKoning and all his Crossway Bible Church family.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Crossway Bible Church, followed by a reception at a separate location.
David’s legacy lives on in the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the faith that guided his life.
