He is preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Antonia Garcia, and first wife Nancy Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Eva Garcia; children, David Jr, Peter, and Michelle Garcia, grandchildren, Peter Jeremy, Brittany Marie and Samantha Michelle Garcia; as well as great-granddaughter Zoey Garcia; siblings, Chayo, Rachel, Peter and Abel Garcia.
David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was drafted in 1967 and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War until 1970. He was well known for his famous phrase, “I Am A Vietnam Vet”.
He enjoyed watching old westerns on Grit TV, movies about the Vietnam War, and any sports he could find on TV. He also loved Family Feud and The Price Is Right. On the weekends, he loved barbacoa and menudo from Del Rio with his family or taking rides to Kickapoo with his wife Eva. In better days, he was known for his Smoked Chicken that was loved by everyone whenever he had a BBQ at his home.
He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan even though he'd like you to believe he hated them “Pinche Cowboys.” And when he could enjoy them, he loved a cold Miller Lite. As he would say after the first chug "Fria!"
His hobbies were going out to the VFW and knocking out a few buckets with his wife and their friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his favorite child... his cat Holly.
A visitation for David will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM.
A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 8:30 AM, at Trevino Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:15 AM
