David Oliver

David Ross Oliver, a proud U.S. military veteran, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on April 6, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois, David devoted 22 years of honorable service in active duty to his country.

David found joy in life’s simple pleasures—savoring a good cup of coffee, sitting outside to enjoy the day, and most of all, spending time with his beloved family. His love for his family never wavered.

He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Oliver; his children Shelia Copus (and husband Robert), Shannon Oliver, Andrew Oliver, Kristin Oliver (and husband Eric Dominguez), Sean Oliver, Ryan Oliver, Brittany Oliver; and his cherished grandchildren Zoe Copus, Alyssa Oliver, Kayden Oliver, and Avery Oliver.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Glacia Oliver; his brothers, Richard and William Oliver; and his sister, Betty Oliver and daughter, Sonja Oliver.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 15, at 10:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. All who knew and loved David are welcome to attend and honor his life and legacy.
