He was born March 2, 1948, in Kingston, Pennsylvania, to the late Walter and Ruth Ashton.
David was in the US Air Force and retired as a Colonel after 30 years of service and worked in the Civil Service for 8 years.
A servant at heart, David was a Bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He loved cycling and set an annual goal of riding 3, 000 miles. He also enjoyed motorcycles, computers and was known for working with his hands, as he kept lots of old things running like new.
David is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Ashton; children, Kristen Worthington and husband, Shawn, Kirk Ashton, Amber Mullins and husband, Jeremy, Daniel Ashton and wife, Aubrie, Sarah Ashton, and Michael Ashton and wife, Ashley; 10 grandchildren; and brother, Caleb Ashton.
A private interment will take place in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
