

David Van Bibber passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008 from natural causes, at the age of 88. He was born on November 15, 1919 and raised in Houston. He had lived in San Antonio since 1946 after being honorably discharged from active duty with the Army following WWII. For wounds suffered during the war and for his meritorious service he received the Purple Heart. He worked for the U.S. Government at Base Engineers for Randolph Air Force Base until his retirement in 1978. He subsequently operated his own Heating and Air Conditioning business until his health prevented him from continuing. He was an active member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and attended the Kum Doubler Sunday School Class. David will be remembered as a generous and hard working husband, father and grandfather who provided well for his family. He made people laugh with his sense of humor and entertained his family, friends and even strangers with his joke telling. He was enthusiastic about hunting and shooting sports being a member of the Nimrod Rifle Club. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife. He is survived by his loving family; wife of 61 years, Maria Theresa Teddy Van Bibber; daughter, Cindy Murray and husband, Tom; grandson, Brian Murray; granddaughter, Kathryn Morris and husband, Alan; brother, Robert Van Bibber; a nephew and numerous nieces.
