

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Debra Briseno, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dedicated nurse, who passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.
Debra was born on August 14, 1951, in Macon, Georgia. From a young age, she displayed a compassionate and caring nature. A proud graduate of the Medical College of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science, Debra enjoyed a remarkable 50-year career in nursing. She devoted her life to the service of others, providing care, comfort, and healing to countless patients. Her unwavering commitment to her profession was a testament to her nurturing spirit and strong faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Louis Shivers and Genetta Sue Landress, her brothers Greg and Robin Shivers, her nephews, Jake & Jonathan Shivers, and her previous in laws Miguel and Marie Briseno.
Debra is survived by her three loving daughters, Stephanie Georgoulakis, Jessica Martinez and Natalie Briseno; her sisters, Dawn Jones and Diane Briseno; and nephew, Andrew Shivers, who will carry forward her legacy of warmth and generosity.
Her light will continue to shine through her grandchildren, Jade Cornell, Zayden Briseno, Alex and Chace Georgoulakis, who brought her immense happiness. Debra’s legacy is also felt through her extended family, including Steve Georgoulakis, Steve Martinez, Michael Briseno, Yolanda (Yolie) Briseno, Nathaniel Mena, Mariam and Hector Garay. Her family will forever remember her as a pillar of strength, kindness, and love.
In addition to her professional accomplishments and devoted family life, Debra was a woman of unwavering faith. Her spiritual beliefs were a guiding force throughout her life, providing her with peace and comfort, and inspiring those around her.
A viewing will be held on Thursday June 13, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary 1101 McCullough Ave. San Antonio, Tx 78212. A memorial service to celebrate Debra’s life will be held on June 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Wayside Chapel 1705 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, Tx 78213. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery II. Friends, family, and coworkers are invited to attend.
To honor Debra’s love of animals, the family requests that donations be made to the Villalobos Rescue Center in her honor.Debra’s legacy of compassion, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
