Delphina Q. Lama peacefully passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 79 in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 25, 1945, in El Campo, Texas, and was raised by her grandparents, Ferman and Guadalupe Flores.
Life’s simplest pleasures brought Delphina great joy. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, enjoyed crossword puzzles, could lose herself in a good book for hours on end, and found delight in her beloved yard, which was filled with an abundance of flowers and plants. She was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and love watching games with her family. Delphina’s smile and laugh were so radiant that they could move mountains, light up the night sky, and provide warmth on a cold winter’s day.
Delphina is survived by one daughter and five sons, Barbara W. Smithyman (Chuck “Blue Eyes”), Carlos Lama Jr. (Rosalinda), Mark Anthony Lama (Rosie), Michael Anthony Lama “Mooie”, John David Lama (Jacqueline “Jackie O”), and Adrian Anthony Lama “Ace” (Amanda); her cherished grandchildren, Carlos, Desiree “Deser Leser”, Mark Jr. (Galaxie), Ashlee “Ashlee Ann”, Michael Jr “Mikey Pikey Likey”., John Jr. (JD), Juliet “Julie Bully”, Jiovanni “Jio”, and Aubrey; and her two loving sisters, Ophelia Goff “Wera” and Yolanda Gonzalez (Albert). Her numerous nieces, nephews and all who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlos S. Lama Sr; son in law, Glenn Watts; Mother Juana Garica; sister, Felipa Lopez; brother, Samuel “Sam” Flores; and brother in law, Joe Goff.
Delphina leaves behind her essence in a garden of love and kindness that will live endlessly within the hearts of those she touched. We find solace in knowing that her legacy will live on through the love she shared, the lessons she taught us, and the memories that will last forever.
Delphina will rest in eternal harmony as she is reunited with her one true love, Carlos.
