Denise D. Pompa Williams, age 66, was called home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2022. A beloved and loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, she was preceded in death by her parents, Raul and Hortense Pompa, and her niece, Chelsea Chantal Pompa. She is survived by her husband Richard Williams; her son and daughter-in-law Matthew Vincent and Meghan Pompa; her brothers, Raul and Adrian Joseph Pompa, and her niece, Jourdan Leigh Pompa.Denise was born on November 17, 1955, in San Antonio, Texas. She was a proud alum of Thomas Jefferson High School, class of 1973, and a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University.
Denise lived a wonderfully blessed life. She and her husband met in San Antonio where he was stationed during his Air Force military service. They were together for 25 loving years. She also dedicated herself to raising her son. She proudly celebrated his graduation from Baylor University and his marriage in 2019. Her love knew no bounds as she selflessly cared for her husband, son, brothers, nieces, extended family, and friends.
Denise was completely committed to her Christian faith. She raised her son at Trinity Baptist Church where she was an active member and served in the church's library. She later joined Word of Faith Christian Center in San Antonio and graduated from the churchs biblical studies school, Victorious Believers Bible School. Denise continued to grow in her Christian faith and deepen her knowledge at the Word of Faith Christian Center over the next 15 years.
In her early career, Denise was most proud of her work at Southwest Voter Registration Education Project where she worked with legendary social activist and vote organizer, Willie Velasquez. But, throughout her life, Denises faith led her to live her life in the service of others, giving of her time and money generously. In her career, she mentored and counseled many young women and offered loving guidance to young moms on raising their children. She also served as a Child Advocate for C.A.S.A (Child Advocates San Antonio); and helped a few high school graduates pay for their college books and tuition. She was unwavering in her support of heartfelt causes. She made monthly donations to St Judes Childrens Research Hospital and to various Christian organizations. For years ongoing, Denise has sponsored a little boy in Africa; and she recently volunteered to work a Compassion International event in Ohio, where she adopted a second child to support - a little girl in South America. In 2018, Denise moved to Akron, Ohio to care for her mother-in-law, Connie Dadich, in her final years, and to spend time with her extended family.
Denise will always be remembered for her agape love, her generosity, her compassion, and her grace. "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21.
