He was born in Mason, Texas on September 25, 1919 to parents, Janie Kothmann Neill and William Neill. Dennis was a native son of San Antonio, his residence for the last 36 years.
He graduated from Texas A&M in 1941 and joined the U.S. Army, serving his country in the Pacific during WWII and in Korea. He retired from the service on February 1, 1971. He married Emilie Real in Kerrville, Texas, on August 29, 1947.
He is survived by: Emilie, his wife of 55 years; 5 children and their spouses: Peggy Phillips, Emilie Rogers, Deborah Payne, Dennis Neill, Jr., and Matthew Neill; sister, Janice Diehl; 9 grandchildren and 1 great -grandson. The last 3 years of his life were spent in the loving care of his wife, Emilie, and the Sisters of the Incarnate Word Retirement Community.
