

Dimas M. Espinoza, age 79, passed away December 28, 2021, surrounded by his family in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Bexar County, Texas, on June 5, 1942 as the 9th son to Juan & Maria Martinez Espinoza. As a child, Dimas grew up in west San Antonio and graduated from Fox Tech High school. After High school, Dimas joined the US Army, eventually serving in Vietnam with continued service until his retirement after a 22 year career; during which he was awarded a Bronze Start for his distinguished and selfless actions in Vietnam. Upon his return from the war, he completed higher education obtaining a master’s degree in information technology. Dimas continued to serve his country through civil service for more than 20 years furthering development and implementation of Information assurance and network security for different defense agencies. He is remembered enjoying the simple pleasures of life such as breakfast with friends followed by reading, movie watching, swimming, or tinkering with projects around the house. His generosity and support of friends and family will be dearly missed.
Mr. Espinoza was preceded in his death by Juan Espinoza (father), Maria Martinez Espinoza (mother), Jesse “Rocky” Espinoza (brother), John Espinoza (brother), Raul Espinoza (brother), Robert Espinoza (brother), Eloy Espinoza (brother), and Elias Espinoza (brother).
He is survived in life by wife; Liliya Espinoza, and his step son; Slava Samoylenko. His previous wife; Gina Espinoza, and their son; Nicholas Espinoza. His previous wife; Rachel Espinoza, and their two daughters; Elizabeth Bjorlow and Lynda Idle; and their two sons; John Espinoza and Randall Espinoza. Dimas is also survived by his 3 brothers and his sister; Samuel Espinoza, Ruben Espinoza, Daniel Espinoza, and Mary Lou Tovar.
The visitation will be held at 6PM, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rosary to follow at 7PM. The Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Sunset Funeral home chapel with the interment to follow at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
