Donald Olda Ferguson passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 3, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born on the 12th of December, 1931 in Breckenridge, Texas to Ina Beatrice and Olda Carnegie Ferguson.
Don graduated from Refugio High School, where he was an Eagle Scout and the valedictorian of his class. He continued his education at The University of Texas, earning a B.S. in Pharmacy and a B.B.A. in Marketing. While at UT, he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and met the love of his life, Anne Marie Mason. They married on February 11, 1956 while Don was serving in the United States Army.
Not long after beginning his career at Eli Lilly & Co., he took a leave of absence to attend St. Mary's University School of Law. Don enjoyed his professional journey with Lilly but eventually settled in San Antonio to embark on a new career in law by joining James F. Gardner in 1972 to form Gardner & Ferguson. Don continued counseling family and his long time, beloved friends for years after his official retirement.
Don will be greatly missed and is survived by his daughter, Pamela Anne Ferguson Blackburn, his son-in-law, Alan Jeffrey Blackburn, his granddaughters, Samantha Marie Ferguson, Courtney Marie Blackburn and Alicia Anne Blackburn Summers, her husband, Matthew Paul Summers and two great grandsons, Grant Charles Summers and Brett Blackburn Summers. He is also survived by his nieces, Kathryn Ferguson Hernandez and Elizabeth Ferguson Smith.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Anne Marie Mason Ferguson, his son, Mark Mason Ferguson, his brother, Murray Edward Ferguson, his parents and many other family and close friends.
Family gathered for a private committal service at the Episcopal Church of Reconciliation in San Antonio, where Don was an active, loyal member for forty-plus years.
