He was raised in McCall, Idaho and spent a career in the U.S. Army and the Air Force, retiring in August 1970. Following retirement, Donald was very involved with the Masons and the Shriners. Donald was a life member of the Scottish Rite Masonic Order and long standing member of the Alzafar Shrine in San Antonio where he was involved with the Oriental Band.
Donald is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wilma S. Herchberger; sons, Lane W. Herchberger, David L. Herchberger, Kristen G. Herchberger, Weldon Cabaniss, and Martin Cabaniss; daughter, Linda Gilbert; and their spouses; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Don's life will be held with family and friends.
