

Colonel R Donald L. Peters, age 67, pulled pitch for his final flight on May 3, 2006, going peacefully at home with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife, Claire, his children Donald, David, Daren, Dawn, and seven grandchildren.
COL Don Peters was born in New London, Connecticut on March 30, 1939. He graduated from New London H.S. in 1957 and went on to pursue a military career and graduated from the Citadel Military College of South Carolina in 1961.
Don served our country for 26 years as an Artilleryman and Aviator. During his service, he served two tours in Vietnam as an aviator and was awarded the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross Oak Leaf Cluster and Bronze Star OLC for valor. Don was active in the Knights of Columbus over 30 years and was a past Grand Knight.
After he retired, Don joined Claire in her Shaklee health and wellness business. He settled into his life outside the military, spending memorable time with family and many friends. He spent his last three years in San Antonio, TX enjoying life, poolside, close to family and being actively involved in the ACTS community and the Knights of Columbus. One of his biggest gifts to us was his ability to be a friend to all, a dad that loved his kids unconditionally, and above all, his never ending love to Claire; his wife of 45 years.
A rosary will take place on Sunday May 7th from 7-9 PM at the Porter Loring Funeral Home on 1101 McCullough, San Antonio, TX 78212
The funeral mass will be on Monday May 8th at 12 noon at the Blessed Sacrament Church on 600 Oblate Drive, San Antonio, TX 78216 followed by a full Military burial service at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
