Donald L. Perkins USAF SMSgt Ret

SMSgt Donald L. Perkins, USAF Ret, age 74, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in San Antonio, with his family by his side.

He was born August 19, 1932, in Abilene, Texas, to the late Roy and Inez Perkins.

Don was a 1950 graduate of Corpus Christi High School. He retired from the Air Force in 1978, and also retired from USAA in 1993. He loved traveling with friends and he especially loved the beach.

Don, being a Leo, loved to be and always was the center of attention. You could find him many evenings showcasing his dancing at Raffles. Don never met a stranger and will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of life.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Jan Henderson-Perkins; daughter, Donna Vance; sons, Steve Perkins and wife, Angie, Greg Perkins and wife, Jody, and Gary Perkins and wife, Vicki; step-daughter, Breanne; grandchildren, Chris O'Connor and wife, Keely, Kellie O'Connor, Brett Perkins, Payton Perkins and Sydney Perkins; great-granddaughter, Bailee O'Connor.

Don's family and friends admired his "fighting spirit" through his battle with cancer. The family would like to thank the staff at Brighton Gardens for the loving care they gave Don during his stay.
