He attended Bosse High School and played football while there. He went on to attend Evansville University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He earned his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University.
Don proudly served in the US Air Force for over 30 years; flying B52’s and F111’s as well as being a leader in many operational and command positions. He earned several medals and commendations though out his career, including the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal. He continued to work after he retired and opened an office for Farmers Insurance on Broadway in San Antonio. He ended his working career teaching History and Government at Northwest Vista College. He spent his last years caring for and enjoying his wife of 56 years.
He will be remembered by all who knew him but especially by his wife, Martha Endress Vann; daughter, Deanna Vann Nethercutt; son-in-law, Ray Nethercutt; granddaughter, Elizabeth Vann Nethercutt; and numerous close friends and family.
