Dora was special to all her knew her. I met her at the gym and in our first conversation I knew instantly we would be friends. I will always remember her for her matter-of- fact way of delivering things. I loved that she was a straight shooter. She was fierce and had a heart of gold.  She was so funny. 
You, her family meant everything to her. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She used to always talk about her grandma adventures and her face would light up. 
Dora will be missed dearly. My condolences and continued prayers for her family.

Dora, thank you for crossing my path. I thank God for placing you there. I met you oh so long ago. 
Quite honestly, I can’t remember the first time we met. I’m pretty sure it was in elementary or middle school. It doesn’t matter anyway. The friendship was long, and it was kind. 
The year 2020 would take a lot of our loved ones away. 2021 continues to do so. 
It upsets me when I hear some people say, this corona virus is just like any other virus, that it’s just like the flu. I shake my head and walk away.
 I cannot think of having so many family members, and so many friends dying from having the “flu” in the same year.  This IS NOT like the flu.  Dora, you were one of those dear friends that we lost because of this Corona Virus. 
You asked us to pray for you knowing you were going into the hospital, knowing and feeling that this was a little bit more serious than having the flu. A month later, your soul was gone. 
I will miss you and I will always remember your unique voice, and your “matter of fact” way of speaking. We will all have our own special memories of you; for you left us with many.  
Every time I will think of you, I will thank my God, indeed, for He gave me you as a friend.  Until we cross paths again, I love you 🙏🏻🌹💋

I was very lucky to sit two desks down from Dora at work.  Dora’s bountiful Love she shared will always be remembered and treasured by all who have known her.  Peace and Love to her family and friends, Johanna

To the Zapata, I have such great memories here at USAA starting when I was an intern about a quarter of a century ago . This is when I first met Dora, and remember her telling me in a no non-sense way as anyone who know her would know "I keep this ship running  and heading in the direction it need to go, if you need anything let me know".  I did not know what to make of that direct method of communication and posture however, as time went on and very quickly I saw her operate. She was a straight shooter with a great deal of integrity I will miss her and all the fun memories she brought to my overall experience in the Actuarial department day in and day out for so many years. My deepest condolences to the Family,  my prayers are with you and Dora.

Dora was my boss in my first job at USAA.  She was always the most understanding and compassionate, fun-loving person I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. My heart is very heavy with the loss of Dora.  My deepest condolences and prayers to the family.

I knew Dora from USAA.  We shared hallway hellos and exchanges over the decades.  She will be missed!

I knew Dora from USAA. She was the type of person you would want on your side. She was kind, funny, and loving.
Dora loved her family and being a grandmother was her highlight in life. I enjoyed seeing her light up when she spoke about her grandkids.
During this sad time I shared with Dora that she was “loved.” Yes I loved her as a friend and I truly enjoyed being in her company when I could.

Dora was one of the first people I met when I started working at USAA.  For the next nine years we worked closely together.  To her family, she was so proud of you all and had so many stories to share about her children, grandchildren, nieces... each and every one of you!  I was dismayed to hear of her passing and I wish you all my sincere sympathies. I encourage each of you to hold on to all of the wonderful memories you will always have to treasure. I still can't believe she's gone. Last time we talked was at the BINGO, we said when this virus is over we would plan to go gambling at the casino.  My condolences and prayers to her family.  RIP to my friend Dora and Bunco buddy.

I thank God for bringing Ms Dora into my life and I thank God for her support at a time in my life when I needed it. I am envisioning her smiling countenance right now.  I will miss her.   Thank you Ms Dora.

A Phenomenal Woman
Dora will forever be in my ❤ heart. Really down-to-earth, kind, and one of the most wonderful woman I knew. Her presence and her laughter would light up a room. Giving of herself she was, when I could not physically be there for my sister and nephew. She was indeed a part of my family. I thank God for lending her to us for a little while. Her passing really hurts my heart. I will surely miss Dora.

I was blessed to be able to spend a lot of time with Lisa and her family growing up.   Dora and Joe did a lot for their family but also for us and accepted us (Lisa’s best friends) as family too.  We shared so many wonderful memories together and I will forever be grateful for everything that Dora did for us. I will truly miss her and her sense of humor.  We love you Dora

I worked with Dora at USAA, not realizing that I knew her mother, Felicia. We became good friends and kept in touch thru Felicia. Rest in peace my friends, Dora and Felicia. May our Lord grant your family comfort, peace and tranquilly in their hearts and souls.

Dora you will be missed so much. You were the strongest woman I knew and your attitude was amazing. You had just started your next chapter and I am heartbroken for you and your loved ones. We had so many good times early in the morning every day for years, especially walking to breakfast and talking in the "shop". You were a VERY special person to me and will be missed. I’m deeply saddened and share my condolences with the family.  Dora was a good friend throughout our work life at USAA (Life Company). It was always a pleasure chatting and catching up when we bumped into each other.  She was funny and always ready to lend a hand. I’ll always have such fond memories of her. 

Dora was the backbone of our department for so many years. I loved her no nonsense attitude and the way she teased me. It made me feel like I was part of the family.  That was her greatest gift and something I will always carry with me. My heart goes out to her family and friends who loved her dearly. She will be greatly missed. 

I have many fond memories of Dora and Joe.  They will be missed.  Thoughts and prayers for the family who meant so much to  both of them.  Their love for all of you was great!

I worked with Dora in the mid-2000’s and she brightened every day I worked with her. My heart goes out to the family and I hope loving memories sustain you during this time.
