Doris Burch passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023 at the Mesa Vista Memory Care facility one month before her 103rd birthday. Doris was born to John and Loleta Hagy on February 13, 1920 in San Antonio. She attended Alamo Heights High School until her senior year when she and a few friends decided to graduate from the new Jefferson High School. She attended Arlington Hall Junior College for Women in Arlington, Virginia, for one year and then married Joseph Leo Burch, Jr., who predeceased her in 1984. Doris raised two children, while helping Leo get his business started. Later she did voluntary work, notably for 15 years in admitting at the Northeast Baptist Hospital emergency room and for the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Altar Society, which she co-founded at the request of the pastor, Monsignor Fater. An excellent bridge player throughout her life, she belonged to many bridge and bunco clubs. Doris was an avid sports fan, spending many hours watching baseball, football, basketball and golf. The children on her Hollywood Park street, where she lived since 1973, knew where to go every day for fresh-baked cookies. In addition to her spouse, Doris is predeceased by her brothers, John Hagy and Tom Hagy; sister, Loleta Schuh; and grandson, Bill Trachta. Doris is survived by her daughter, Sherran Trachta; son, Jim Burch (Kathleen); grandchildren, Bob Trachta, Mark Trachta (Lori), Angela Halsell (John), Charles Burch (Christine), and Kenneth Burch (Amy); eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. We will all miss Granny very much.
