Doris was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Nellie Cole and Alan G.A. Heath on January 27, 1935. The oldest of four, Doris and the family would often visit Captains Cove a popular seaside attraction. She graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT in 1953 before attaining degrees in music and business management. She married her husband, “Bill” Soltis in 1956. She enjoyed playing the piano and had done so since the age of 12; she would even go on to teach. Doris retired in 1994 leaving the East coast for San Antonio, Texas. She joined her brother Dennis, where the two would go out dancing and share new experiences such as “singing for supper” and she played on the piano for all to hear a rendition of one of John Field’s piano sonatas.
She is survived by sons, Philip, William “Billy”, and John; siblings: Dennis, Donald, and Noreen; grandchildren: Tanya, Nicole, Philip, and numerous great grandchildren. She was laid to rest with her husband at Sunset Memorial Park.
