She was in the Gray Lady service of the American Red Cross. A member the Lutheran Church, she was active in the LWML, Altar Guild, and VBS. She was a wonderful cook, and a friend to all.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rebecca Garza, and 2 sons, Dennis and Michael Avery. Survivors include her husband, George Avery; 2 sons, Frank Avery and wife Diane, and Phillip Avery and wife Claudia; 3 grandchildren, Mercedes Frost and husband Hal, Dylan Garza, and Dorothy Avery; and a great-grandchild, Hal Frost.
