

Dorothy Ellen (Arnold) Massey, who loved life and her family, passed away August 18, 2010. She was born July 4, 1922 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Rueben and Bertha Arnold. Dorothy served her community through Veterans of War Associations throughout Missouri and Illinois and in fact, was one of the very first female school bus drivers in the State of Illinois. She is preceded in death by her first husband Thomas A. Jackson; brothers, Floyd and Orby Arnold; brother-in-law, Ebbitt Fields; sister-in-law, Marie Arnold; son-in-law, Kim MacTaggart; and great grandson, Jacob Schloemann. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Charles M. Massey; sons, Thomas E. and Bette Ann Jackson of Florida, Timothy and Sharon Jackson of Alaska, Terrence R. and Toni Jackson of Colorado, Theodore A. and Nancy Jackson of Illinois, and Jeffrey and Heather Massey of San Antonio; daughters, B. Ellen and Robert Truttmann, Bonnie MacTaggart of Illinois and Beverly Ragan of San Antonio; granddaughters, Robin, Tylee, Tracy, Michelle, Christine, Dana, Jennifer, Cori, Rachel, Amanda, Charlotte, Jeanie, Lindsay and Brandy; grandsons, Chad, Thomas, Timothy, Richard, Jerry, Andy, John Wayne, Eric and Justin; 27 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren; sister, Lillie Fields; brothers, Forest Arnold and Nathan Arnold; along with many close friends and a large extended family. Dorothy was larger than life – losing her will create a profound void in the universe. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road. A Memorial celebration will be held Sunday, August 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the memorial service a reception will be held at Faith Church Assembly of God located at 8023 Huebner Rd in San Antonio.
