Dorothy K. Post, age 87, passed away on June 7, 2007. She was born on December 21, 1919 to parents in the military service while stationed at a Calvary Post in Douglas, Arizona. They were Carl D. Bowen and Kathryn Almira Johnson Bowen. Being in the 1st Calvary Division, the family traveled to many places in the U.S. Dorothy exhibited musical talents early and used them happily her entire life. She sang at school and church functions and was an usher at the San Francisco Opera House where she was allowed to enjoy and appreciate many musicals and operas. During WW II, she volunteered at the Pepsi Cola Service Center in Washington DC, entertaining troops and military hospital patients with her singing and various sanctioned camp show groups. Dorothy met her beloved husband, First Lieutenant S. Perry Post while working at the Officer's Club at Ft. Bliss El Paso Texas. They were married on June 14, 1941. After Perry returned from WW II, they moved to San Antonio, Texas to start civilian life. They had three lovely daughters, Martha, Marilyn and Nancy. Dorothy graciously and warmly combined the raising of her three daughters and being the helpmate to her physician husband, beginning his career as a private practice doctor in family medicine. Dorothy was very active in writing for and editing the newspaper for the Manor Baptist Church for 13 years and was ordained as a Deacon in 1978. She also sang with the choir for over 50 years, being President, Social Vice President, and librarian. Dorothy served on many committees with the church and public, including public radio and television, the ANY BABY CAN organization and the Jefferson Area Co-op. She volunteered with many organizations, including the Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital, the SICU, and the Oncology unit. A love of cooking and people took Dorothy to many people's homes with food and love, with offerings and prayers for better health, to welcome the newborn and just to comfort those who needed it. She will be missed.
Martha, Rod, Tamara, Marilyn, Jennifer, Scott, Troy, Trevor, Eliana, Andrew, Nancy, Steve, Marshall, Mason and Emily.
