

Dorothy Waitz Stephens, beloved wife, devoted mother and honored grandmother, was embraced into the arms of our Lord on the 27th day of February, 2007. Dottie, a native daughter of San Antonio, was born to George and Camille Waitz on the 15th day of April, 1918. After graduating Brackenridge High School in 1936, Dottie went on to attend Our Lady of the Lake University for two years before meeting the love of her life, Robert Glenn Stephens.
The pair were introduced on a blind date in 1940 and married April 15th 1941. They remained an inseparable and devoted couple for the next 66 years. In the early 1960's Dottie became owner and opened the Stephens Children Shop, a division of Robinson's Dress Shop. Over the next ten years Dottie would travel extensively as a buyer, traveling as far as New York City.
Dottie made the decision to relinquish her business when she became diagnosed with cancer in the mid 1970's. Dottie's strength and courage helped her to battle and overcome cancer, becoming a survivor for almost 40 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Camille Waitz; and brothers, Bruce and Carl Waitz.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Stephens; daughter, Nancy Stephens; sons, Robert Steve Stephens, Jr. and wife Karla, and Mark Stephens of Dallas; granddaughters, Capt. Andi Barlow and husband John, serving in England, Lindsay Matt Powell, who is attending medical school in Erie, PA, and Megan Stephens Matt Perkins, and Nicole Bagster; great-grandchildren, Emily, Stephen and Jack; and her brother George Waitz.
