After 50 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winston Paul Ballard on October 3, 1987.
She was in food service management until World War II where she was an air raid warden and worked as an office manager in real estate and insurance while her husband served in the Air Force.
For 25 years, Dorris was an active member of the Women's Society, choir and hand bell choir at Aldersgate Methodist Church and at Windcrest United Methodist Church for 10 years before moving to Houston, TX.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Graves of Lubbock, TX and son, Mike Ballard of Del Rio, TX; four grandsons, one granddaughter, five great-grandsons and four great granddaughters.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Porter Loring on McCullough.
On Saturday, November 14th at 1:00 pm, a service will be held in the Chapel at Porter Loring on McCullough followed by interment in Sunset Memorial Park.
