Douglas Alfred McDougall

Doug moved to the San Antonio area when he was 5 years of age attending Ben Milam Elementary School. In 2nd grade he transferred to Morel Ward Elementary School on South Flores Street. He graduated from Harlandale High School in 1954.

Doug enlisted in the United States Navy as a Sea Bee (Unit ACB1), spending 1 year on Midway Island and then relocating to the Amphibious Base in Coronado, California. He was active for 2 years and in the Reserves Construction Battalion for 8 years.

On November 14th, 1958, he married Mary Ann Seeley who had also attended Harlandale High. They were married 33 years until her passing on December 15th, 1990.

He worked at Hobbs Trailers as Parts Manager and enjoyed having a kitchen in his shop to express his love of cooking for his co-workers. They nicknamed him "Tinker" because of his creative ability to fix any kind of part or piece that came along. He continued with new owners, Fruehauf and then Wabash, while retiring after 30+ years.

Doug spent 27 years with the Volunteer Fire Department in Pleasanton, TX. He served as President for 20 of those years. He was also a member of the State Fireman and Fire Marshall's Association.

On June 21st, 1997 Doug married Doris Mooney McBee. They were married almost 18 years until her passing in January of 2015.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Donald McDougall and Doris Heineke, also by his wife, Mary Ann and wife, Doris. He is survived by his daughters, Gaye Wood and husband, Brian; Peggy McCaskill and husband, Rob; stepdaughters, JoMar Rose, Tamie Rabenaldt and her husband, Mike; Brenda Irle and her husband, Mike; and his stepson Marvin (Herb) McBee, Jr. and his wife Penny; his grandchildren, Victoria Wood; Ronnie and Patrick McCaskill, Ashley and Garrett Rose, Brittany and Austin Irle; Cheryl Garza; brother-in-law, James Heineke; sister-in-law, Betty McDougall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doug's wishes were, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department.
