

Luis Zacarías Cabeza Reséndez, age 74, entered his heavenly home Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in San Antonio. He was born June 6, 1949, to parents María Luisa Reséndez Salinas and Luis Zacarías Cabeza y Abascal in Veracruz, Mexico.
Luis attended the Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey for his undergraduate and graduate studies in engineering. Later, Luis attended Imperial College in London, UK to earn his second and third master’s degrees in engineering. He obtained his doctorate from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
Luis’s specialization in electrical engineering took him all over the world. He worked in Germany, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. In the United States, he worked in New York, North Carolina, and Texas - in both Brownsville and Austin. He was extremely proud and passionate about his work and was an avid learner and scholar throughout his life.
His personal life was as fulfilling as his professional one. He was married to his wife, Elena, for forty-seven years. He was the father of three children, of whom he was extremely proud. After his retirement from Austin Energy in 2019, he moved to San Antonio to be closer to his children and grandchildren. As the patriarch of his family, he was deeply loved and will forever be remembered for his generosity, wit, and intelligence.
Luis was preceded in death by his bother, Carlos Epitacio Zacarías Cabeza Reséndez. He is survived by his loving wife, Elena Riojas de Cabeza; sister, Esther Beatríz Cabeza de Solís; brother, Jorge Alfonso Hernando Zacarías Cabeza Reséndez; brother-in-law, René Solís San Miguel; sister-in-law, Amparo Escobar de Cabeza; sister-in-law, Alicia Capetillo de Cabeza; daughter, Mónica Edith Cabeza Huhn; daughter, Fabiola Eugenia Cabeza de Flores; son, Luis Zacarías Cabeza, Jr.; son-in-law, Eduardo Alfonso Flores Casso; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Elizabeth Cabeza; grandchildren: Jorge Guillermo Valdés Cabeza, Mónica Valdés Cabeza, Eduardo Alfonso Flores, Sofía Elena Flores, Samuel Zacarías Cabeza, Christian Luis Cabeza, and Lucía Lynn Cabeza. Additionally, he will be dearly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends with whom he shared a special and personal bond.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
