Phil graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX in 1975, and went on to receive his Ph.D from the Royal Holloway College, the University of London, where, in 1984 after the completion of his doctoral thesis he received a distinguished award, the Bourne Medal in Chemistry, for his work on the topic of “Bond Formation in Mass Spectrometry: Electron Impact Induced Migration.”
Phil was a lifelong Lutheran, and a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Alamo Heights, San Antonio, since 1982. He also enjoyed many hobbies such as collecting and repairing watches and clocks, canning, baking, and beer making.
Being an only child, Phil has no close relatives. However, he was fond of saying his church was his family, and as such he is survived by the many Saints of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, who will remember him fondly for his commitment to His Lord, his friendship, and his faithful presence.
A funeral service for Phil Glaspy will take place at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on December 3rd, 2024 at 10:00am followed by a potluck style reception in the church gym.
