Duane H. Sullivan, age 78, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Providence and raised in Rumford, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Rita (Goff) Horan. She was the beloved wife of Allyn F. Sullivan Jr. for fifty-six years.
In addition to her husband Allyn, she leaves three children, Allyn ‘Trip’ Sullivan, Aidan (Sullivan) Gould, and Robert Sullivan; five grandchildren, Maeve Sullivan, Honora Sullivan, Nora Gould, Townsend Gould, and Robert Sullivan Jr.; daughters-in-law Annie (Hannan) Sullivan and Diane (Simek) Sullivan and a son-in-law, Ryan Gould. A product of Rhode Island Catholic education, she graduated from St. Xavier Academy in 1964 and from Salve Regina University in 1968 with a degree in Education and History. A teacher early in her career, she took time off to raise her family before returning to work for the Phillip Morris company, where she worked for eleven years.
An exceptional athlete throughout her life, Duane was nationally ranked as a tennis player in her teens and went on to take up golf, twice winning the women’s Club Championship at Wannamoisett Country Club. A long-time resident of Massachusetts, in 2013 she and Allyn moved south to Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Her loving warmth, cheerfulness, and irreverent sense of humor will be dearly missed.
