

Earl S. Fowler, age 87, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at his home in Spring Branch. He was born September 17, 1932, in San Antonio, to parents, Earl and Lillian Starkey Fowler. Earl attended San Antonio College at the age of 16, and graduated from Trinity University in 1954. While attending Trinity, Earl was a member of the Trinity University Basketball team, where he exhibited mad basketball skills. After graduation, Earl married Barbara Russell of San Antonio and joined the US Army where he served in counter intelligence. Earl is a Korean War Veteran. In 1959, Earl was accepted as a Special Agent with the Naval Investigative Service (NIS, now called NCIS). Earl was the Special Agent In Charge at his assignments at Norton AFB CA, San Juan and Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico, Camp Lejeune NC, Pearl Harbor HI and Pensacola FL. Earl served NIS honorably for 25 years until retirement. After NIS retirement, Earl establish “Earl’s Woodworking” company where he and Barbara crafted artistic wood products and outdoor furniture until his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Moore. Earl is survived by his wife, Barbara Russell Fowler; sons, Joseph Fowler (Donna) and Gray Fowler (Denise); niece, Charlene Anderson (Shell Anderson); granddaughters, Brittany (Michael), Amber, Chloe (Ian), Sidney, and Perry; great grandchildren, Amelie, Michael, and Everette Wyatt

Pastor Larry Garcia will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be sons Joe and Gray Fowler, Grand Daughters Amber and Chloe Fowler, and Grand Son-In-Laws Michael Golden and Ian Legg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, San Antonio Texas.
