

Edith Means Delaney passed away after a sudden illness on July 29,2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 1, 1926 in Creston, Ohio. Edith was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Merle Means, her brothers Maynard and Dale and her sisters Mildred and Phyllis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Glen and her beloved granddaughter,Jenny.
She is survived by her children Bruce (wife, Carolyn), Keith(wife,Laura) and Susan (husband, Lou). She is survived by her grandchildren Jenny (husband George), Andrea( husband Billy), Jonathan, Gregory, and Zack(wife Alicia). She is survived by her great grandchildren Audra, Tyler, Lance, Austen, Jamison, Finnegan and Mally. She s survived by many nieces and nephews.
Edith and Glen moved to San Antonio in 1962 where she was a stay at home mom until her youngest child was in school. She then started volunteering in the schools and worked as an attendance secretary at Ed White Middle school for 20 years. Edith was very active in her church serving as a Sunday school teacher, assistant superintendent and a superintendent for vacation bible school. She volunteered in the church office and was a member of Hope circle.
Edith became known as Bug when her kids were teenagers and it carried through to being Grandma Bug to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved lady bugs.
After retiring, Edith and Glen traveled the world seeing many different countries and almost all the United States. Edith was known as the person who was always prepared for whatever item that someone needed on the trips. The item was almost always in her purse. Edith was also known as the card lady. She sent cards for birthdays, anniversaries and just because. She always seemed to know when someone was feeling down and would send them a card to brighten their day.
Edith was a wonderful, caring, loving person who always put other people especially family before anything else in her life.
We will celebrate Edith’s life on August 31, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church at Alamo Heights at 6720 Broadway San Antonio, TX 78209.
