

Eduardo “Rudy” Rodolfo Castro age 89 entered eternal rest with the Lord on Monday, December 6, 2021. He was born on November 12, 1932, in McAllen, Texas. Eduardo was the son of Florencio and Aurora Navarro Castro.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Catalina Salazar Castro, his daughters Clarisa Ana Castro and Cathy Castro (Charles). Sisters Minerva Salazar (Nephew Martin Salazar Castro), Hilda Castro, and brother Frank Castro (Glenda). Eduardo has two grandchildren, Charles Cameron Castro IV and Eduardo “Edward” Avelino Castro. Nephew Martin Salazar Castro, Nephew Frank Castro (Stephanie), great nephew Daniel Castro, Nephew David Castro (Thelma).
Eduardo was preceded in death by his parents Florencio and Aurora Navarro Castro.
Eduardo served his country in the Korean War in the branch of the Unites States Army earning the National Defense Service and Good Conduct Medals. Upon receiving honorable discharge, Eduardo worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years and retired as Postmaster in Edcouch, TX. He and his wife were business owners of the Young Fashion and the Younger Set for decades located in El Centro Mall, La Plaza Mall, and Historic Downtown McAllen, TX. He served as a Lion’s Club member and attended Sacred Heart Church in McAllen, TX. After retiring, he enjoyed and loved being surrounded by his loving grandchildren Charles Cameron and Edward, beloved dog Kirby, and all his family at gatherings in San Antonio, Austin, and McAllen. Eduardo was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his family. He was the proud father of Miss Texas 1988 and Miss San Antonio 1989.
A private family Rosary and Mass will be held at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. A private family military funeral service will occur at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Tx.
