

Edward E. Ted Lewis who was born August 21, 1912 in San Antonio, joined his beloved wife, Katherine, on March 23, 2005. In addition to Kat, he was predeceased by his mother, Rosa Kuehne Lewis and his father, Edward Scott Lewis.
Ted graduated from Main Avenue High School in 1929 and worked at Alamo Iron Works for a short period of time.
He had a very successful career of 37 years with the United States Postal Service from which he retired as a Station Superintendent in 1972.
He was a member of the National Guard for 5 years.
During World War II he harassed the Draft Board until they finally let him join the active Army where he saw duty in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a TEC 4 with the 2812th Engineer PDC.
After his retirement Ted was a very active member and officer of the Leon Valley NARFE, VFW and American Legion. 15, 000+ hours of volunteer service at the Audie Murphy V.A. Hospital in San Antonio brought him the honor of receiving the KENS "Taking Pride in San Antonio" community service award.
He enjoyed square dancing, music, traveling and led a very active life until his death.
Ted was a member of the Church of Christ and one of the first members of San Pedro Church of Christ.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Lynda Lewis of San Antonio; son, Ed and Dee Lewis and granddaughter, Karie Lewis of Dallas; grandson, Reed and Lexie Lewis; step-grandson, Jaren, of Farmers Branch; sister, Rosemary Daily of San Antonio; brother, Harold and Maureen Lewis of Austin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Bernard Weiner, Dr. Robert Schnitzler, and Dr. John Holcomb, as well as the 6th Floor nursing staff at Methodist Hospital, for their loving care, especially in his last days on earth.
