He leaves behind his beloved wife of 72 years, Thelma LaDelfa Pendell; his 6 children, Pam Pendell Cage and her husband Claude, Jackie Pendell Lee and her husband Mike, Deborah Pendell Glenn and her husband Michael, Edward Pendell and his wife Angie, Sharon Pendell Mahan and her husband Darryl and Karen Pendell Ritchie; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ed is also survived by his brother George W. Pendell and his wife June.
Agriculture formed the basis of his life's work. The years in agriculture were shared with Joaquin Terrazas, who worked beside Ed for 55 years.
Ed was a WWII veteran and was selected by the San Antonio Honor Flight to travel to Washington D.C. He received a certificate of appreciation from the US Army Freedom Team Salute. He was a member of the American Legion Bicentennial Post #579, as well as the V.F.W. Ed was a past president of the Texas Pecan Growers Association, an elected School Board member of the Eagle Pass ISD and served on several bank boards. He had been a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church for 20 years.
Besides his family and friends, He had a great love of all animals and nature.
Those who knew Ed, knew he could always be found with his favorite cigar in hand and a joke to share. Ed's wife, Thelma (known to many generations as Noni), has forever been enamored with Ed's ability to always make her laugh.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Goff for his care and kindness over so many years. We also thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Methodist Hospital (Medical Center) for their compassion during this difficult time.
