Pastor Schneider faithfully shepherded God’s people with humility, wisdom, and a love for Jesus. His life was a testimony to God’s faithfulness across time through his 76 years of ordained ministry. Well done, good and faithful servant (Mt 25:21).
He founded Webster Gardens Lutheran Church & School, then served in the Air Force around the world as chaplain, Deputy Commander of the Chaplain School, and with USAF Chief of Staff. A pioneer in clergy education, he developed numerous curricula and clinics/standards for premarital guidance, suicide prevention, effects of family separation, and hospital biomedical ethics. While living in the Pacific, his broadcasts on Far East AF radio reached several hundred thousand. After military retirement he continued to serve: pastor for churches, hospital chaplain, counseling ministry at Concordia Lutheran, and premarital counseling teacher for therapists.
He is survived by children Ed, Dave, Ellen and Tim, their spouses/fiancé, nine grandchildren and their spouses. Wife Eunice and daughter Mary predeceased him.
Burial with full military honors was at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery 9/29/25.
A memorial service is scheduled on Nov 10, 2025, at 11am, Concordia Lutheran Church.
