He died in San Antonio on October 1, 2009.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice Grodski Taylor, from Riverhead, New York.
He is also survived by his sons Jeffre E. Taylor and wife Pam, of Vinemont, Alabama and Mark B. Taylor and wife Jo Ellen Korthals, of San Marcos; by grandchildren Nicky Thomas and husband John, Rhyann Granger and husband Chris, Cassie Taylor, Meghan Taylor, Gabe Taylor, and Ben Taylor; by great-grandchildren Aiden Taylor, Laura Katherine Granger, Mary Claire Thomas, and Harper Granger; by brothers Richard Taylor and Louis Taylor; and by sister Shirley Ferry. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were founding members of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.
