Mr. Vanek served in the US Army during World War II in the overseas Theater of Operations North Africa and Italy, battles fought include: Monte Cassino, Rome, Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley, Italy.
He retired from civil service at Kelly Air Force Base, TX after working there for 33 years.
Mr. Vanek was a member of VFW Post No. 8541, SPJST Lodge and Hermann Sons Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Leona. He is survived by his daughters, Eileen Nelson and husband, Jim and Sandra Ramzinski and husband, AJ all of San Antonio, TX; brother, Matt Vanek and wife, Henrietta of Victoria, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be dearly missed by those of us that knew and loved him.
