Elias Ramos, known to many as the United States Air Force Trained Killer (USAFTK) and affectionately called Mập by his wife, passed away on December 15, 2024, of natural causes in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Laredo, Texas, on April 10, 1945, to his late parents Manuel and Juana, and predeceased by his beloved wife An Be Ramos and his sister Guadalupe, Elias's journey through life was one marked by strength, laughter, and profound generosity.
Elias's early life was filled with the vibrancy of Texas culture and the spirited games of football and baseball. His love for sports transitioned into a lifelong enthusiasm as he became a super fan, cheering on his favorite teams: the San Antonio Spurs, Texas Rangers, the 20th Century Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and the South San Bobcats. Above all, he took the greatest pride in supporting his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors, never missing a chance to be their number one fan.
Following his graduation from St. Philip's College with an Associate's Degree, Elias dedicated himself to the service of his country through the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. His time in the Air Force not only shaped his work ethic but also his character, as he became renowned for being the "Best Dad Ever," a thoughtful tipper, and the most selfless person one could ever meet, even in the darkest of times. His strong faith and contagious laugh were beacons of light for all who knew him.
After his honorable service in the Air Force, Elias continued to apply his skills in the field of Air Logistics, contributing to the safety and efficacy of air transportation. In his retirement, he discovered a passion for craftsmanship, creating beautiful Adirondack chairs, funko pop shelves, and bespoke furniture upon request for his family, who will continue to cherish these pieces as a testament to his talent and love.
Elias leaves behind a legacy through his five children: Teresa and her children Jayden, Izabella, and Zaely; Angelica; Juanita and her daughter Jacquelyn and granddaughter Bibiana; Elias and his daughter Jasmine; Tony and his wife Salina and their children Tristan and Isabella, and a multitude of granddogs. He is also survived by six brothers, one sister, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his generous spirit and loving presence.
In his life, he would call San Antonio, Texas, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma home. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Elias would describe him as a man whose generosity knew no bounds, whose love was as vast as the Texas sky, and whose friendly demeanor made him a cherished companion to many.
Although we say goodbye to Elias Ramos, his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His was a life well-lived, full of purpose, joy, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
