

Elmer Erwin Martin Hansen, 92, of San Antonio, TX, passed away Saturday July 5, 2014, at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio. He was born February 2, 1922 in Wakefield, NE to John and Marie (Tarnow) Hansen.
Elmer graduated from Pender High School in Pender, NE and attended Wayne State College in NE before entering military service in February 1943. Elmer entered flight training with the Army Air Corps becoming a B-24 Pilot with the 63 Bomb Squadron, 43d Bomb Group in the Pacific area.
After the war, Elmer attended the University of Nebraska attaining a Bachelor Degree.
On June 8, 1949, Elmer married Alma Annetta Anderson, a registered nurse. They had one son, Jerry Hansen. In the 1950's Elmer owned a mobile home sales business in Snyder, Texas. In the 1960's the family moved to Lincoln NE where Elmer farmed. In the late 1970's Elmer and Alma moved to Texas where they purchased a farm outside Thorndale, TX.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma; his brothers, Lyle and Fred and sister, Lorinda Magirl.
He is survived by his son, Jerry and wife, Wilhelmina and granddaughter, Jennifer; one sister, Marcella Hillegas of Pender, NE.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church.
