Elsie Lee Jones

Our beloved Gramme, Elsie Lee Jones, age 81, entered into eternal light surrounded by her family and dogs at home, listening to her favorite hymns and whispers of love in her ear on Monday, September 23, 2013 in San Antonio.

Elsie was born June 14, 1932 to Sammy and Mattie Jones in Elizabeth City, NC. She met and married her husband of 63 years, John Neal Jones; "Jones-ie" will love her forever.

Gramme was a modern grandmother who cherished family near her. She was an avid reader, fantastic cook, and loved learning about the world and listening to others' stories.

Elsie loved attending her grandson's operas and musicals, as well as her other grandchildren's numerous activities. She was a loyal friend to many; loving, kind, and always put others first.

Gramme grasped technology by learning to use computers at a late age and maintained contact with loved ones through skype and email.

Our angel is preceded in death by her son, John Neal Jones, Jr.; sisters Hazel Mae Winslow, Barbara Jean Wade and Billie Wrae Smith.

Elsie is survived by her beloved husband, John N. Jones; devoted daughter, Carol Ann de los Santos, who loved caring for her; grandsons, John de los Santos and Jared de los Santos; granddaughters, Leah Kirstein and Sierra Robbins and husband, Justin; sister, Sophia Jones Winslow and husband, Kenneth; brothers Jimmy G. Jones and wife, Allyne and Donnie Jones and wife, Ann; and long time friends, Joe de los Santos, father of the grandchildren, Frances Hudler, Pat Cressner, Mary Naprstek, Mike Cheuvront, Loren Munoz and Jim Andrew; numerous loving nieces and nephews. We remember her beloved dogs, Paris and Jabba and 5 great granddogs. Rest assured she will live in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
